Tattoo

She got the tattoo as a reminder of her pain and how she overcame it. If she ever relapsed and thought about it, the tattoo would tell her defiantly not to do it again. Because if she did take those pills again, she knew she wouldn’t feel alright. And before she knew it, she’d be back down that dark road again, unable to pull her sinking feet up.

The lights blinded her. They also distracted her from where she was going. They flashed, they flickered, then they went black. Total darkness. She was stuck inside a nightmare and all the doors were closed. The pills would wear off and she’d wake up. Everything would be different.

It happened like this so many times she had lost count. So she got the tattoo. This time she was tired of counting.
