I wanted to share this video with you guys so you can see one of the events I attended recently as part of my journey as a crazy writer. Merj was the keynote speaker at the 2nd Annual Filipino American History Month Celebration. The theme was “Bridging Cultures–Making History for 427 Years.” She took me and a friend of ours, Nadege Uwase, to experience this cultural event in Jefferson City.
With her two dogs, Paris and Curly (so precious), we stayed at this hotel:
It was a really nice hotel. We stayed overnight and were able to enjoy a breakfast buffet the following morning. (I love American breakfasts.)
At the cultural event I had this for dinner:
It’s authentic Filipino food! I had chicken adobo, pansit bihon, lumpia, banana toron, rice and a drink. (I have no idea how to pronounce all of those, but everything tasted good!)
In the video clip you’ll see the singing and dancing we got to enjoy while we ate our dinner. You’ll see some traditional Filipino dances and costumes.
And of course no trip to Jefferson City is complete without a little Central Dairy. We visited the ice cream shop the next day. It was Merj’s first time and there was no way Nadege and I were going to let her miss out on one of the best places in Missouri to get ice cream.
